From starting her own clothing line at age 15 to now being the first head Women’s Designer at Diamond Supply Co., Bana Bongolan is a living testament of how working hard, determination, and creativity pays off. A Los Angeles native, Bana drew and painted since a young age, eventually translating her love of art to love of fashion. Little did she know that the brand she started when she was only in high school, BEINHABITED, would later be worn by celebrities such as Chris Brown, Cassie, and Meek Mill. Since graduating from FIDM, Bana has continued success with BEINHABITED and has designed for LRG, Young and Reckless, Crooks & Castles, Married to the Mob, and now, Diamond Supply Co. Her designs have also been featured in magazines and online blogs, such as Nylon, Complex and XXL. Being one of the youngest successful designers in Los Angeles, Bana has been asked on multiple occasions to speak at places, such as FIDM, various trade shows and Cal State Fullerton, about her life in the fashion industry and how to find success. She discusses how each company she has worked for has continued to challenge her and push her forward skillfully and creatively—from Crooks & Castles teaching her how to perfect her craft, to LRG teaching her how to become a visionary, to Young and Restless teaching her how to manage and advise, and to Diamond Supply Co. teaching her how to synthesize all of such learned skills, weaving her into the designer she is today. In addition to working for Diamond, Bana will be releasing her new line BANA in late October—soon to be making her a household name. Her items will feature that familiar Bana Touch: sleek, modern, unique, and tastefully desirable. Be on the lookout for her advice, designs, and projects…Bana won’t stop doing what she was born to do.
